Bluish tones may appear when the tissue is handled or bruised, creating a striking contrast with the lighter surface.

Compared with classic Penis Envy genetics, this hybrid is valued for combining the dense, heavy-bodied appearance of its parent line with a more vigorous and expressive development profile. What’s Included in the Kit?

This product includes the essential cultivation materials required to prepare your own monotub setup:

• Colonised grain spawn: active mycelium developed on prepared grain.
• Sterilised bulk substrate: nutrient-rich substrate ready to be mixed with the grain spawn.
• Casing layer: a separate top layer designed to help retain surface moisture and support pin formation.

The plastic monotub, a heating mat, thermometer and hygiene accessories are not included and must be purchased separately when required.

Quick Instructions

1. Prepare the workspace
   Clean and disinfect the work surface and the monotub with 70% alcohol. Close windows and doors, switch off fans and avoid draughts. Wash your hands, wear a face mask and disinfect your gloves before opening the cultivation materials.
2. Mix the grain spawn and bulk substrate
   Open the colonised grain spawn and sterilised bulk substrate. Add both to the monotub and mix gently until the colonised grain is distributed evenly throughout the substrate.
3. Level the mixture
   Spread the mixture evenly across the base of the monotub. Press it down very lightly with a clean, disinfected utensil to remove large air pockets. The surface should feel level and firm, but not tightly compacted.
4. Apply the casing layer
   Spread the casing material over the surface in a thin, even layer. Do not mix it into the grain and substrate mixture.
5. Close the monotub for colonisation
   Close the container and leave it in a clean, stable location. Avoid opening, moving or handling it unnecessarily while the mycelium spreads through the substrate.
6. Introduce fruiting conditions
   Once the substrate has developed an even white appearance, begin opening the lid slightly to allow passive fresh-air exchange. Increase the opening gradually over the following days.
7. Harvest the mushrooms
   Harvest when the mushrooms are mature and the veil beneath the cap begins to separate. Hold each mushroom close to the base, twist gently and remove it completely without leaving loose material on the substrate.

Recommended Growing Conditions

• Colonisation temperature: keep the monotub at approximately 26°C.
• Acceptable temperature range: the culture can develop between 18 and 28°C, although stable conditions are preferable.
• Fruiting temperature: reduce and maintain the temperature at approximately 24°C once colonisation is complete.
• Humidity: aim for around 90% relative humidity during fruiting.
• Light: use ambient or indirect light, ideally coming from above.
• Direct sunlight: avoid completely.
• Air exchange: introduce passive ventilation gradually by opening the lid slightly more over several days.
• Location: place the monotub in a clean indoor area protected from strong draughts.
• Handling: avoid moving, opening or disturbing the monotub unnecessarily.

In colder rooms, an optional heating mat can be placed beneath the monotub. Use a towel or piece of cardboard as a barrier, keep the setting low and monitor the substrate temperature with a disinfected probe thermometer.

Development and Harvest

During colonisation, small white areas should begin appearing across the substrate within approximately 5–7 days. These areas will gradually expand until the surface develops an even white appearance.

Once the substrate is fully colonised, begin introducing passive ventilation and maintain stable fruiting conditions. Small pins should then appear and gradually develop into mature mushrooms.

Harvest when:

• The mushrooms have reached their expected size for the variety.
• The veil beneath the cap begins to separate.
• The caps are formed but have not fully opened.

To harvest:

1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
2. Hold each mushroom close to the base.
3. Twist gently while lifting.
4. Remove the mushroom completely.
5. Clear away any loose mushroom material left on the substrate.

After the first harvest, continue maintaining suitable humidity and passive ventilation. If the monotub walls appear dry, mist them lightly without soaking the substrate. Additional flushes may develop while the culture remains healthy.
