What are Thai magic mushrooms anyway?
The magic mushroom is Psilocybe cubensis, a so-called shrooms with psychedelic effects, whose main active ingredients are Psilocybin respectively Psilocin. The scientific name is composed of "Psilocybe" for "bald" and "Cubensis" for "Cuban". Cultivation of the magic mushrooms, also known as shrooms, does not require any expertise, which is why cultivation is well suited for beginners.
Typically, eating Thai magic mushrooms leads to pleasant, often euphoric feelings, increased laughter and a state of deep, creative thinking. Since Ban Hua Thai is a very potent shroom, even a small dose is sufficient for experienced users to achieve a satisfactory effect. For beginners, we therefore recommend a slow approach to build up a tolerance. Optimal growing conditions: Easily possible with the Growkit
Magic mushrooms develop particularly well when they are grown at temperatures between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 60 to 80 percent. Ensuring these environmental conditions has a huge impact on growth. In this regard, especially the first week is crucial for the acclimatization of the granules contained in the grow kit.

Step-by-step instructions for the Thailand growkit
Below you will find detailed instructions on how to work with the magic mushroom grow kit. It is important that you wash your hands before each step and ensure a clean environment. This is because undesirable microorganisms such as bacteria can contaminate the kit and lead to impairment of the results. In addition, the use of a spray bottle is recommended, as regular spraying of the granules is crucial for the moisture level. Also recommended is the use of a mouth guard, sterile gloves and hand disinfectant. It is also helpful to have a thermometer and/or a thermal mat to ensure that the optimum temperature is maintained.
- Take the bag out of the cardboard packaging.
- Fill 0.2 to 0.3 liters of water into the plastic bag (not into the box with the granules). Do not use tap water, but still water from the bottle.
- Place the plastic container with the granules and the spores in the bag filled with water. Do not open the plastic container until it is in the bag filled with water!
- Carefully spray the granules so that they become slightly moist, not too wet!
- Now close the plastic bag at the top with the paper clip (or tape), so that the bag is tight and the necessary humidity can develop.
- Store the bag in a warm place. The temperature should be constant and 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.
- Once a day, the bag should be opened briefly to let in fresh air and spray the granules ernuet to keep them slightly moist.
- The first results can be seen in some cases after about two weeks. In other cases, it takes up to three to four weeks before the first harvest is possible.
Other things you should consider when growing
Preparation of the room
Before working with the kit, make sure all windows and doors are closed. Wind or drafts can harbor microorganisms that can contaminate the grow set in the worst case scenario. It is also a good idea to place the grow box as well as the cake - the substrate and the mushroom mycelium growing in it - on a disinfected surface to prevent contamination. The use of a mask is recommended, otherwise the grow kit and the cake may come into contact with your breath and bacteria etc. contained therein. It is also recommended to work with clean hands and arms.
Temperature
As mentioned above, the ideal temperature is between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. In no case should you let the temperature drop below 18 degrees or rise above 29 degrees, this would be fatal for the fungal spores. An effective way to keep the temperature above 18 degrees is to use a heating mat.
Light conditions
Mushrooms need sufficient light to grow. However, a few hours of artificial light or indirect sunlight per day is usually sufficient. Attention: The mushrooms will die if they are exposed to direct sunlight! You should therefore make sure that the grow box is not placed directly in the sun.
Spraying with water
The grow must be sprayed with still bottled water once a day. This procedure starts one day after the start of the grow. To do this, open the grow bag and spray the granules to moisten them. After spraying, close the grow bag again so that it is airtight.
Growth and harvest
Since this is a natural product, general information about the time of the first harvest is not possible. Under optimal conditions, the first results can be seen after about 14 days, but it may take longer. The shrooms grow in small or larger groups, so-called flushes. It is possible that the granules contained in the kit will produce more than one flush. In this case, the first two flushes are the largest.
When are magic mushrooms ready for harvest?
You can tell by the fact that the veil visible between the mushroom cap and stem has just been torn off. Now you should not wait too long to harvest. Before harvesting, it is advisable to put on sterile gloves and/or disinfect your hands, wrists and arms. Remove the mushrooms from the cake (granules) by grabbing them by the foot with your thumb and forefinger and gently twisting them until they come loose. Caution: pulling the growths out just like that could damage the mycelium and result in the death of the entire crop. Also, only mature mushrooms should be harvested. The others still need some time until they are ready. For another flush, fill the kit with a little still water (about 1 cm), after you have harvested all the mushrooms, close the plastic box with the lid and put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours (not longer). After that, pour off the excess water. After that you can proceed in the same way as with the first flush. Normally you can make two to three flushes with one kit. But with a little practice you can get more.
Disposing of the Thailand magic mushroom grow kit
If after harvesting the last flush no further results are seen after three weeks, the kit can be disposed of. This is also the case if the kit turns green, red, gray or yellow. The changes in color are an indication that the kit is contaminated with bacteria. The kit should not be disposed of inside the living quarters, but outside the house in the trash can.
