Originating from the northern island of Hokkaido in Japan, Hokkaido Japon Strain is a regular cannabis variety. The cannabis plant originates from the millennial culture of this country, where it grows wild.
This strain grows with a structure more typical of an indica: vigorous, corpulent, with wide leaves and thick stems. Similar to the phenotype of China of Yunnan by Ace Seeds.
Variety with fast flowering
Hokkaido Japon has semi-autoflowering properties, so it starts flowering outdoors very quickly after the summer solstice. With a budding flower development in only 42-56 days.
Rich in CBD
Thanks to the study conducted by James Farmer of www.seedsofkismet.com on this second (P2) generation of Hokkaido, it was possible to identify in this variety 3 main phenotypes according to their different chemotypes in the main cannabinoids:
Group A → High CBD content (10%), moderate THC content (5.5%), high CBG content (3%) and CBD:THC ratio 2:1. Remarkable increase of terpenes in this genotype in all ranges, with much stronger and more attractive aromas than the rest.
Group B → High CBD content (9-12%), very low THC content (0.4-0.5%), low CBG content (0.6-0.8%), and CBD:THC ratio 22-25:1.
Group C → Low to medium CBD content (2%), extremely low THC content (0.1%), extremely low CBG content (0.05-0.1%), and CBD:THC ratio 22-25:1.
Thus, these genetics can lead to the development of 3 varieties with different purposes depending on the chemotypes used in stabilization:
A) Psychoactive variety rich in THC, CBD and CBG.
B) Hemp variety rich in CBD.
C) Hemp variety without relevance in cannabinoid content.
After genetic analysis of the Hokkaido Japon strain Ace Seeds managed to create a uniform variety, homozygous and with very low genetic variation. With a rare and unique genotype, unrelated to other varieties of European or Russian hemp. Probably its origins come from cannabinoid varieties from China or Korea. Since it has no or very low degree of hermaphroditism, some degree of human influence is suspected.
