The original Skunk hybrids blended traditional strains from Central and South America, Afghanistan and Thailand. Intensive selection over many generations, and almost as many backcrosses, stabilized the very best specimens of Skunk, creating the first natural sativa-indica hybrid - the classic indica-dominant Skunk #1. 

 

The potency of this weed is so notorious that 'Skunk' is often applied as an umbrella term for all manner of potent cannabis strains. Breeders consider Skunk #1 the reference for consistent and uniform performance, and her indestructible genotype has likely influenced more than a hundred modern hybrids. Her vigorous performance and high-yielding harvest show the true meaning of hybrid power. Both growth and flowering appear to the connoisseur to be very typical of Indica, meaning Skunk #1 grows only slightly more in height during flowering than a true, pure Indica. 

 

The special dark green leaves of this strain derive from its Afghani ancestors, and contrast sharply with the lime green tips during growth. Flowering starts very quickly, and Skunk 1 soon forms strong branches and twigs to carry its enormous harvest. The short spacing between branches expodes and dense, rounded clusters of flowers that grow upwards towards the end of flowering into heavy final buds. 

 

The fan leaves can show very different shades of color at the end, while the plants focus all their energy on the emerging flower formations and the production of resin. The Sativa heritage, on the other hand, is most visible in the beautiful calyxes, the long and numerous pistils, and the fact that the growth of the flowers expands massively in all directions just before harvest time. The Sativa influence also has a wonderful impact on the potency and effect of Skunk 1 - a still amazing combination of stone and high.
